Logpad is a lightweight desktop editor for logs and plain text, available on Windows and Ubuntu. It supports large files, multiple encodings and tabs, with a small footprint that suits keeping it running on a laptop.
Unlike an ordinary notepad, Logpad supports saved search templates and log TAG rules: templates store frequently used keywords for instant reuse, while TAG rules mark key log lines and can filter search results down to matching lines only. Both can be kept on your machine with no login required, or uploaded to the cloud — sign in with the same account on another Windows / Ubuntu device and all your templates and TAG rules sync automatically.
Logpad is built for log triage with an “open, search, jump” flow: search every opened file at once, see results grouped by file, and double-click an entry to jump straight to its line. Filter results by time window, requestId / traceId or log level, and hop quickly between WARN, ERROR and other exception levels.
Logpad is made for backend developers, ops and technical support teams — a capable replacement for the classic notepad way of reading logs. It keeps notepad’s simple open / edit / save habits while upgrading search, analysis and comparison. It ships with Chinese and English UIs plus light and dark themes, so it looks comfortable and fits any preference.
